Discovery Vitality

Do your Vitality Fitness Assessment and earn Vitality points!

The Vitality Fitness Assessment is a quick and easy test that tells you how fit you are. With this knowledge you will be better equipped to understand your current fitness level and what you need to do to improve it. You'll also receive tools to help you reach your health and fitness goals, such as a personalised exercise plan.

What the Vitality Fitness Assessment involves

Physical measurements, such as weight, height, waist circumference and body fat percentage
A Fitness test (step test)*
A comprehensive health and fitness report
A personalised exercise programme

Where to go

To make an appointment with a Virgin Life Care biokineticist click here. Remember to bring along your Discovery membership card, your identity document, some exercise clothes and a fee of R185. You have to pay this fee when you do the assessment and can claim this amount back from your Discovery Health Medical Savings Account, if you have funds available.

If you are a Discovery Life policyholder, you will need to pay for the Vitality Fitness Assessment yourself.

If you are a Bankmed member, please refer to your scheme’s rules.

*If you’re unable to perform the standard step test as a result of a medical condition, there are alternative tests that can be performed – speak to your biokineticist to find out more.

You'll earn Vitality points

You'll earn 3 000 Vitality points for completing a Vitality Fitness Assessment. You can earn Vitality points for having two Vitality Fitness Assessments a year if you have the assessments five or more months apart. You can also sign a non-smoker’s declaration and earn 5000 points once a year if you don’t smoke.

You can earn bonus Vitality points for the Vitality Fitness Assessment based on your fitness level.

Level 5	12 000

Two to four weeks after your assessment, your Vitality points will be automatically awarded. The Vitality points you earn for a Vitality Fitness Assessment contribute towards the fitness category and you can earn a maximum of 15 000 Vitality Fitness points per adult member per year. The maximum number of bonus fitness points you can earn is 24 000 bonus fitness points per adult per year.

Points are allocated subject to the rules of Discovery Vitality. Unless otherwise specified, points can only be earned by the principal member and spouse.
