Please follow these guidelines to keep your online health and fitness information private:-
An unauthorized person's most likely method of accessing your private health and fitness information will be through attempting to obtain your login details (card and Personal Identification Number [PIN]) in either real- or cyber-space. Using these details, an identity-thief can login into your LifeZone and view all the health and fitness measurements and reports you have done on Virgin Life Care.
To minimize the chance of identity theft, Virgin Life Care recommends that you follow these security tips:
Real SpaceDo not openly display your login card number or leave your card in an un-secure place.
Do not record your PIN in a non-secure format.
If your card is missing, notify Virgin Life Care immediately. As a security precaution, Virgin Life Care staff are unable to change your PIN. However, they can temporarily suspend your account. Remember to notify Virgin Life Care when you want your account re-activated.
CyberspaceChoose a PIN that is not easy to guess; avoid easily guessed combinations like addresses, extensions and birth-dates.
If you believe that theft of your health and fitness measurements would put you at risk, Virgin Life Care recommends that you change your PIN on a regular basis. The frequency of the change should relate directly to the severity of the threat: once a week if high, once every three months if low.
Install reliable anti-virus software, schedule and run regular anti-virus software library updates and set the anti-virus software to protect against threats.
Some web browsers may be set to automatically remember and insert your card number and PIN, whenever you visit a login area. While this speeds access to your LifeZone; this information would be accessible to crackers and hackers; if they break into your computer's hard drive. For optimum safety, Virgin Life Care recommends that you do not give your browser permission to remember your card number and PIN.
If you decide to save your card number and PIN on your computer through another application, make sure that it is to a password-protected file (and that the file's location is only known by you).
Never give out personal information, such as identification or membership numbers, physical or email addresses or phone numbers via online services like chat rooms, instant messages, email and Web forms. An identity-thief might use this information to dupe the Virgin Life Care Call Centre, or other companies.
Block hackers by setting up a firewall on your computer: a firewall separates your computer from the Internet and controls who or what gets in or out.
Be careful when opening emails; any email could contain a virus, worm or Trojan horse that may damage your computer's software. If the source, subject or purpose of an email seems suspect- don't open it. Instead, delete it and its attachments.
Be selective about what you download; some software may be the source of viruses and other malicious code.
Always remember to close your Virgin Life Care LifeZone's browser window if you leave your computer. If it is left open, subsequent users of your computer would have access to your private health and fitness details.
Virgin Life Care trusts that following these guidelines will ensure that your health and fitness information remains private and safe.
